Is Google being bad?

Recently, I have seen Google Search do something it's never done before.
It is using a CAPTCHA when you are searching and not logged in to Google,
and not using Chrome. This is probably because I do searches on both my
desktop and my tablet, which have the same remote address. The desktop
uses Opera 12, the tablet either Puffin or Dolphin.

Google keeps telling me something about how this could mean someone is
trying to change my password, or I could have malware on my device. I
know it's not malware because I carefully checked all my devices the
first time I saw this. I know its not someone trying to change my
password, because it's me on both devices.

I think it's Google's attempt to force people to either sign in or switch
to Chrome.

Anyone else seeing this?

I'm quite experienced but a layperson as to why Google ever behaves as it
does on any given day. I would guess that they are treating every user
as unique based on all the C.I.A., err... I meant to say NSA, gathering
and what not. Whatever they're doing to you is targeted at you, but is
not necessarily mutually exclusive to you. It's anything or anyone you
have associated with, even in the most oblique terms, that's going to
affect your daily experience with Internet searches by any context.
