Why is Google image search giving me a whole bunch of completely

Why is Google image search giving me a whole bunch of completely
unrelated results where there is no mention of what I’m looking for
anywhere on the page even though I carefully specify what I’m looking
for in quotation marks?

Without an example this is very hard to tell. I often use +word to force
word in the results. But a lot of images are found based on surrounding
text, which results in wrong images showing up. If what you're looking
for is rare you might end up with 90% unrelated images.
