Google Images not working correctly?

After using Google Images I have a set of thumbnail hits displayed. I want
to view one, so I click it. A larger image appears, as a pop-up, but it's
over a new page (the website of the picture owner), not over the Google
hits. How am I now supposed to get back to that page of thumbnails? If I
click the 'X' icon in the pop-up image, there's a longish delay and yet
another web page opens. If instead I click outside the pop-up image

I've only noticed this behaviour recently. Something definitely seems
wrong here.

What browser are you using. Seems ok here with either IE8 or Chrome.
Once you click the 'X' to close the pop-out you are at the page where
the image was originally pulled from. All you need to do then is click
back on your browser.

Thanks Peter and sorry for the delay in responding.

I'm using Firefox and reckon I now have the hang of it.
